I’ve just come back from the Endurancelife Aquatrail event that was run at the Flete Estate, Mothacombe, today as a part of the Endurancelife Festival. I did have an entry for the Aquatrail, but decided not to partake as I’m recovering from a cold and want to focus on the Coastal Trail Series half marathon tomorrow. Instead I took my family to the start of what looked to be a fantastic course and took a few pictures that you can see below.
The whole idea of running a bunch of events across the bank holiday weekend as a festival and combining it with a series of interesting talks is a great one. The whole place had a nice friendly atmosphere and there were lots of very healthy looking people wandering about. The organisation of the Aquatrail looked fantastic and as I watched all of the participants race down the beach I longed to be amongst them, hopefully next time! The course itself involved 3 laps with 3 swimming sections in a single lap. The first was immediate and involved a couple of hundred meters out to a buoy and back, the next two were crossings of the Erme estuary and looked no less challenging as the tide was in. Here are some pictures for you to enjoy.
